Most of the time during the software install, a cleaning utility is installed. You will normally find this utility under the HP programs pointer. Open this utility and choose to run a nozzle test and also choose to clean the print heads. You may have to repeat the process a couple times to have success.

Always start by running any of the diagnostic tests that are built into the printer. It's important to keep in mind though that laserjets don't have nozzles that get clogged like in an inkjet so there's less that you can do. If there's some toner that's spilled out, just take a dry paper towel and wipe it up.

Most common place for dirt is the paper roll. You can take it out and clean it with cleaning alcohol and a clean cloth.
