The size of the violin is determined by the size of the individual. Teens and adults use a full-size violin. The smaller violins are for pre-school and elementary students.

In choosing the right violin size you will need to take a measurement of the left arm of the student, from the bottom neck to the palm of the hand.

Put the violin in playing position. Stretch the left arm to cradle the scroll of the violin in it. Bend in elbow, too small. Can't reach the scroll, too large.
