At what age should a child start violin lessons?

No, very small children can start taking lessons and they make violins different sizes to accomedate that. Consider your child's maturity level before you sign them up. Will they want to go? Are they willing to practice? Can they sit still for a 1/2 hour?

A child can start music lessons as soon as they're able to hold their instrument. Smaller children generally start on 1/4 beginner violins and slowly progress to a full-size.
