First you need to depressurize the fuel injectino lines, then disconnect the battery. After taking these precautions, swap out the filters using the necessary tools.

Most cars place fuel filters inline, others place them in the fuel tank. For an inline fuel filter. 1. Find your filter. Either in the engine compartment or under the car near the gas tank. 2. Wearing safety glasses, remove clamps on either end of filter. 3. Remove any mounting bolts 4. Twist filter from fuel lines 5. Install new filter, reattaching and tightening clamps.

In order to give you the exact procedure I need to know the year, make, and model of the car. The process can vary a lot from car to car.

The basic procedure for a fuel-injected car is like this. First unhook the fuel pump or pull the fuse. Next run the engine until the it dies. Then locate the fuel filter and detach any fuel lines going into it. Be careful since fuel will still be in the lines. Finally remove and replace the filter assembly.

You're going to need the exact same brand and type of filter, you'll need to remove the cover, this can be done by hand, and simply replace.

It varies depending on what car you have. A good estimate is 30,000 miles-40,000 miles. You can change it every 5 years cause debris and rust can clog the flow of fluids in the air filters. Look in the owner's manual and follow instructions about this or contact dealership.
