Oil is put through a process known as cracking. At different tempuratures, the different components in oil vaporize. Those vapors are drawn off and cooled into the different products (i.e. kerosene, gasoline, etc.).

They take raw crude oil and heat it until it is all vapor. They then use a fractionating tower to separate it by weight to make gasoline and other products.

Basically it is distill using a large distillation column. Crude oil is put in and heated At various levels the vapors are siphoned off. The higher up the column the more flammable the resulting liquid.

Without getting into complex chemistry. Gasoline comes from the heating of crude oil, until the oil begins to vaporize. The components of crude oil vaporize at diffenet temputures, these components are collected as vapors and are allowed to recool and form into gasoline, motor oil, liquid natural gas, tar, etc.
