There is no way to force your body to stop lactating. It will cease on it's on timetable. It should be a few weeks after you completely wean your child.

Ultimately, the best way to stop lactating is to stop allowing your child to nurse and to stop pumping breast milk. It can take quite a while to stop producing milk even after you stop. Your body will naturally slow production over time.

You will not stop lactating instantly. It will take some time for your body to adjust, but in time, if your child is not breastfeeding, you will stop.

If you are nursing, gradually wean the baby and your milk supply will lessen. If not nursing, pump only enough to eliminate discomfort and your milk supply will diminish.

It is generally a process that takes a few days. First, stop breastfeeding. Buy a head of cabbage, crush the leaves and put them in your bra. If you start feeling engorged, hand express or pump a little milk, but stop as soon as you don't feel hard anymore. Your milk will go away.

Stop pumping and you will have to deal with the drying up process, it can take several days to completely dry up. I used cabbage to help myself dry up and it seemed to help with the pain that most women i know had talked about. Let nature take its course just dont pump or feed during the dryup time

Don't breastfeed the child for a week. Stop the milking of breasts. Though you may feel a little bit pain due to the tightening of the breasts during this week, you should not worry about the same. After the week is over, the pain would also go and the lactating wouild also stop.
