You need to have a base coat and a top coat color and a sponge. Paint the base color on the wall then use the sponge to apply the top.

Painting a textured wall is very similar to painting a smooth wall. The biggest difference is in your preparation. Be sure to select a roller that is meant for textured walls. It will have a deeper nap than a roller for smooth surfaces. Paint in overlapping x's to ensure good coverage.
