There are several faux finish techniques that work well on textured walls. Techniques like leather or suede already have a textured appearance.

If you have lots of space you can use sprayer for painting if no use simple roller but with long hair ( try 18 - 22 mm long )made from polyester.

It is done by using a paint shield technique. It come in a couple of sizes, get a big one and a small one. Place the shield on the ceiling, flush against the wall and paint carefully. Wipe the shield each time you move it, before putting it back against the ceiling.

You use a paint roller of leaves a rough textured look, this will cover rough small imperfections, rough to touch ,will feel rough every time you rub at it.
