They don't show up until after you rub them on yourself.

Some sunless tanners are tinted so that you can actually see where you're applying them. Bare Escentuals has one called Faux Tan.

Make sure you put on the same amount of it everytime you go through a limb. I like to mix it with some base to make sure I got it all even.
