I have had many bad experiences with trust.

Trust is something that needs to be earned, not just given off your sleeve and then wait for someone to abuse it. Talk and get to know people, but don't give them everything you hold dear. Once you get to know them more, give a little more. Then as time goes on, your trust for them will build.

If you cannot trust others and thus constantly assume that others are untrustworthy, you become suspicious and confrontational with them, pushing them away from you. If your trust is continually broken, seek help to evaluation why you invest so much in those who are not trustworthy

If you did something to hurt someone, apologize. This must be heartfelt and must directly address what you did to hurt that person, and what you want to do make things better. After that, assuming you are forgiven, you pretty much cannot do anything that can break that trust. You should be honest, but not so brutally honest it hurts.

Sometimes, you just need to make an effort to relax and give someone a shot. If a person speaks kindly of others, doesn't gossip, etc. , he might be a good one to try trusting. Remember, trust is the basis of every relationship, so it's important to learn how!
