Find out what the annulment laws are in your state. You must be able to prove, per the requirements of the law, that the marriage was fraudulent and for what reasons. It is best to hire an attorney to handle it for you.

An annulment is very similar to a divorce and usually requires you to file in the superior court. An annulment basically is that one party to the marriage was not able to contract for the marriage.

You have to make sure that you fit the criteria for an annulment, if you just feel you made a mistake and got married too quickly you will have to file for a divorce. You can look up the criteria that will allow you to get an annulment online as well as the steps to get one.

You can do this on your own at the courthouse. This is different from a divorce in that you don't have to prove the other person is at fault. If your spouse won't contest it then it can be dissolved in several months and simply say the marraige was dissolved.

Contrary to popular belief, there are many grounds for annulment. You need to consult your court to inform you how to proceed. If you are seeking an annulment from the Catholic Church, you need to consult your Diocese for the paperwork and procedures, and counseling on how to do this.
