Bird baths can look good just about anywhere in a yard, but for the bird's benefit it is best to place the bird bath in a location where it can be easily spotted from the air, rather than hidden under or below thick tree or plant cover where the birds will have difficulty finding it.

Place the bath away from traffic. Level the ground under it, then plant some low flowers around the base. Use whatever flowers you like as long as the plants don't grow too high or too wide, try bright colors to attract birds. Flowers around the base also avoids the need of weed wacking the grass around it.

If you have grass, put it in a corner so it's not in the way when you mow. Otherwise, they work great in the middle of the yard if you have bricks, gravel, or something else. But if its in the middle, you may have to move it if you get something bigger later on like a table.
