How can I learn when to use other/another?

It's simple. Think of "another" as if it were actually two words ("an other"). (Would you like another cake? ) With words like "the" "my" "your" "his" or "her" just use "other" (Your other book is bigger. My other brother is short. The other day I went swimming. ) Hope that helps.

When you talk about only two peple then you should use another as for example-"they love one another". When you talk about more than two people, you should use other.
