Accuracy is becoming less and less important with automated spell checking. I usually just type sloppily and let the automated tools make me look like I know how to spell. There are games that you can play that will help speed up your typing. They are fun and they work.

When you already type pretty well the best way to increase speed is to practice, a lot. The more you type the more you will increase your speed. If you want a good thing to do is set a timer and do 5 minute timed writings over and over again so that you can be accurate as well as fast.

I think you need to start typing everyday in order to increase your speed. Practice makes it perfect. Try using different programs to increase your speed. Maybe go back to school and take a typing test. Practice with a friend. Maybe compete for speed.

You should try to memorize the keys and their positions. Once you master this, you will be able to type even without looking at the keyboard. There are also lots of free software which could help you with your speed.
