How can I go about jump starting a Harley Davidson sportster?

You jump it like you would a car. Hook the two batteries together and start the running bike. Let it charge for a bit then try and start the other. Hook the cables to the correct battery terminals.

Get a battery out of another bike or lawnmower etc and connect thick gauge wire to the terminals and put the exposed ends onto your terminals and push the button. If it is an 883 the mower battery might have enough juice but 1200 will prob need a stronger battery

I keep my old battery charged up and in the closet. When the bike needs a jump on a cold morning, I just connect up the spare battery and between the two of em there's always enough juice to start the bike. Careful to connect to positive on the bike!
