There is a great product available that gets out animal urine smells. It is called Nature's Miracle and it is available at most pet shops. It really works.

Use a pre-treatment specifically for pet, then use a carpet cleaner with a solution also for pet stains and odors. Failing that, try soaking it with something to remove pet stains and then give it a good scrubbing on your hands and knees.

The best way to get cat pee smell out of your carpet is to sprinkle the stain with baking soda, and wipe it out after 5 minuets.
