Lice aren't common on house pets,humans and pets don't share the same kind of lice, nor do they pass easily to each other. It is uncommon for American house pets to have lice, and they are much easier to treat than fleas. Consult a vet, it may be something else.

Lice shampoos that work on people will work fine. Yes, if they're lice people can get them. They might be fleas though, do you know the difference?

There are medicated shampoos you can buy to get rid of lice on your pet. To end the life-cycle of the lice, you will need to repeat the process once a week for three weeks and treat other animals. The lice will not transfer to humans.
