Can I house chickens with cats?

I have several pet chickens that roam free in my fenced in yard, I have recently been given cats and would like to keep them in the same yard without putting my chickens in cages.

Not a good idea! Cats love to hunt birds. I suggest rather than cages for your chickens, check online for chicken houses and pens. All will be happy this way.

Some cats will not be interested in the least, others may attack and kill a chicken. This is very much a cat to cat thing, so some experimentation is needed. If it is a kitten try to expose it to the chickens early so it gets familiar with them.

Your cats may go after the chickens. They will chase them and literally give them a heart attack if they're interested.

If you have large enough breeds of chickens the cats will probly leave them alone but it also depends on the cats.

This depends on the nature of the cats. If they will leave the chickens alone its fine, but if they are killing your chickens you will have to retrain or relocate the cats.

Its not likely they will get along, naturally your cats will chase your chickens and possibly hurt them. In rare cases, cats are able to co exist with chickens.
