If you paid a tax preparer, that individual or company will have copies on file. If you did your returns yourself, you can get copies from the IRS. Phone 1-800-908-9946 or use IRS form 4506-T, which is available online, and mail it to the appropriate address listed at the bottom of the form.

If you want to get a copy of your old tax returns you will need to contact the Internal Revenue Service by phone or by mail and request a copy.

Tax transcripts are free, it will take them at least 2 weeks to mail it to you. You must complete and mail form 4506-T Request for Transcript of Tax Return for each year. Contact your state(s) Department(s) of Revenue for a copy of the returns you filed.

File Form 4506-T with the IRS to get a return transcript. It includes most of the line items of a tax return. Return transcripts are available for the current year and returns processed during the prior 3 processing years. Most requests will be processed within 10 business days.
