A hearth stone is a simple stone in front of a fireplace which is used to catch embers from the stove. Usually hot embers shoot out of a roaring fire. Any large flat and non-reflective stone will do. Some people even shape them and fashion them into symbols or shapes.

A hearth stone is simply a stone infront of a fireplace that will catch burning embers that shoot out of the fire. Any large, flat non-reactive stone will work. Try shale for the ease of shaping and cutting.

You don't make a hearth stone; or rather, the only way you'll get one find a stone too big and break it down (usually with the application of heat for a classic method). It's just a large stone placed in the ground on which to burn fires.

Go to the nearest body of water in your geographic location. Find a rock. Clean it. Paint it. Put it in your fireplace and shake some maracas over it. Chant some old songs and then when the fire is out you will have a magic hearth stone.

I would think tou would need the education and careful planning for making the hearth stone. You will need supplies suck as stone and other metals. You will also need a few workers to help you out with your project. You may also need some designing skills to create this piece of work.
