To join SWAT, you must first join the police. Policemen and policewomen are professionals. Most have at least an AA degree, and many a BA or more, in Administration of Justice or a related field. They must also attend Police Academy or a certification class. Recruits start as patrol officers, and must succeed there before applying for the SWAT team.

SWAT team members come from the police department, so the first step is to become a police officer. Although the exact requirements for joining the SWAT team vary by department, it is considered an elite unit. As such, you will need to perform very well as a regular officer.

You have to go through the same training to be a cop and then you will need to take further training to gain SWAT officer skills and tactics.

Become a cop first (probably at a department that actually has a tactical team). And most important be super phyiscally fit-like live at the gym type phyically fit health nazi do 100 pushup + 50 pullups + 80 situps + run an 5 minute mile jock type, really!
