How can a 55 year old woman get a computer hardware job after she has been layed off?

I worked my last job for 24 years, now that I am grey and wrinkled, and a woman, no one seems to want to hire me.

First of all, understand that it is a difficult job market out there right now, no matter what your age or gender. That being said, consider updating your skills, resume, and clothing style. Flesh out your resume by adding information about more recent volunteer tasks.

Make sure that you resume, and any portfolio that you have focuses on your job strengths and your career accomplishments and not your age. Also, if you believe that you are being denied jobs because of your age, then you might be able to sue potential employers on the basis of job discrimination.

How can you sue a company ? it is very difficult to prove? Go ahead tell me how you can prove discrimination? They say...overqualified, another was suited more, any & other lame excuses,.it is discrimination that has no teeth b/c it is very hard to proove..please no generalizations, just details.. add a comment

First she will need some training. The government offers free computer training, and Microsoft offers free computer training to the unemployed.

Regardless of age or gender, a person can look for open positions on common online search engines, newspaper ads or by word of mouth.
