To the best of my knowledge, and experience, grapefruit--nor any citrus, has a romatic effect without a personal trigger. Perhaps if a person has a personal experience that links a grapefruit to a romantic experience they may have an olfactory response to grapefruit that triggers their feelings or memories of a past romantic encounter.

No, the grapefruit scent, while strong and uplifting, does not have a romantic effect on most people. Of course there are always exceptions.
