Short haired chows are very intelligent loving dogs. They make good family dogs when they are the only animal in the family. They are good around children and are loyal to their masters. Chows should be socialized around other animals at a young age or else they can become very antagonistic toward other animals. Overall a great pet!

These dogs can make good pets for the right owner. They are moderate energy dogs and of not run or payed with, can become destructive, like any other breed. They will likely be protective of you and others in your household.

The short-haired Chow is one of the best dog in the world, If trained early and discipline is maintained is very protective over it's owner, I when I was young seen my Chow ,Bear, break a large log chain and chase after a dog until I said stop

I think it depends on the breed of course. However, for an indoor dog having short hair sure makes shedding less of a problem.

I have a friend that has 2 and they are great. They are prone to skin and eye problems though so can be high maintenance.
