Do doctors recommend the South Beach diet?

I mean a lot of doctors, not just one or two.

No. The doctors I know simply recommend the following diet: drink plenty of water, moderate sodium intake, less on fatty food, get some exercise, eat grains, vegetables and fruits with some moderate meat. Nothing fancy like South Beach and others.

There are many more doctors that will not encourage their patients to go on this diet. The reason for this is because they support the food pyramid which encourages complex carbohydrates.

The South Beach Diet was created by a doctor, cardiologist Arthur Agatston. Besides him, most doctors would recommend any diet that doesn't pose a risk to the patient and that helps the patient to lose weight. So, yes there are many doctors that would recommend the South Beach Diet.

Alot of doctors don't tend to recommend a specific diet, as many of these diets will play games with hormones. Most doctors recommend just cutting back on calories and exercising.
