Itchy skin on a dog could be caused by a number of problems, including mites, allergies, fleas and infection, to name a few. In order for the treatment to be effective, your dog should be seen by his veterinarian to diagnose the problem.

It depends on what is causing the irritation. The dog might be allergic to flea saliva, or he could have parasites, other allergy problems, a staph or strep infection, etc. Take your dog to the veterinarian to determine exactly what is wrong and how to relieve the itching.

Often a dose of benadryl by mouth works better for me than a topical application but if you want to try benedryl spray that may work. Be careful that they don't lick too much. Our vet prescribes a spray called Genticin that works great.

You may want to apply a topical ointment to soothe the itchy area or give your dog an oatmeal bath. If your dog has allergies, try giving him some Benedryl tablets. If your dog has fleas or ticks, try giving him a flea bath and applying the Frontline application regularly.

First, find out why your dog's belly is itching. It could be any number of things. Take your dog to the vet for proper treatment.

Get a cup of oatmeal and mix it with some water. You need to mix it very well and then place it on the dog's itch. This should be done for a few minutes and after you do it you need to clean your dog's belly. If this doesn't work, see your veterinarian.

It does not need anything other than a scratch. If the whole dog is itching it could be because of dry skin. Get a special shampoo for this to care for the dry skin.
