If you're talking about Windows XP password there are a number of tools (boot disks) you can download to get account passwords. I would first try loggin into safe mode and click on administrator. If no admin password has been set you can change user account passwords from there.

Well first can you get into the hp laptop? If you can, then go to control panel, then select users, or adminasation tab.

Depending on the level of security used in setting the original password, you may be able to change the password in a couple of ways: (1), try and reset it via the BIOS menu when booting. (2), select the "safe mode" option when you boot and go into your administrator settings from there to reset it.

Tap F8 while it is starting up until it comes to a screen with choices, one will be "safe mode." Sign in using "administrator", go to control_panel->users(or users_and_groups)->click_your_account->change your password.
