Use a friend's wrt54g, or can get your hands on one, change the password on it and back up the image. Restore that configuration image to your device.

Most likley the hard reset DID reset the password, back to the default. Try logging into the router by typing the IP address (typically into your web browser. When promted for username and password leave the username black and type "admin" for password. That should get you in. If not retry your hard reset and try again.

Holding in the reset button until the power indicator blinks will reset the password. This doesn't get rid of any instance of a password, just any one you might have setup in the past. The default password is "admin." Type it in, and you're good to go!

If a hard reset does not reset your password in the router. I suggest changing or upgrading the firmware of the linksys router. One firmware specifically for wrt54g routers is the dd-wrt. it is a firmware that can boost the performance of your router similar to that or industrial and commercial use. I highly recommend this firmware.

First of all, locate the reset button behind your Linksys router. It should be on the left side, while facing the back. Hold it down for at least 30 seconds. Once you have it running again, go to (the default router adress) it will ask you for a login. Leave the user id empty and put "admin" as password.

To hard reset the WRT-54G you need to hold down the reset button for over 30 seconds. It is very important that you hold it for that long, as there is no other way to reset the passwords. The default is admin/admin or [blank]/admin
