Can some birds nests have insects in them that bite?

In some bird nests, there are mites that live in there. If you come in contact with them, they may bite you. While they do not live long on humans, while they are on you and biting, they can cause itching. If they get onto your pets, then they can cause a mange-like condition on them.

Chicken mites will hide in tiny hiding places in nests, especially chickens but include starlings, sparrows, and pidgeons. Itch mites lurk in hay, grasses, leaves, straw, and similar materials.
