Can rain get into ridge vents and cause leaking?

Yes. Ridge vents allows heat to escape from your attic, but sometimes high winds can lift up ridge vents or tear them off, which can allow outside material like rain and debris to get in through the opening. Most roofing companies install them with staples or nails and don't seal them, making this very easy to happen.

Not likely, But if you notice leaking after it rains and the wind was blowing hard and your ridge vent is not all the down against the roof it could be possable. Most of the time roofs leak because of bad shingles or a hole in them. what is the age of roof can be a factor

If the fasteners that secure the ridge vent are not installed correctly, the vent becomes vulnerable to the wind detaching it from the roof, which will allow leaking.
