how should I install attic fans and ridge vents?

An attic fan should be anywhere between 2 foot by 4 foot and should be installed in an upstairs ceiling hallway. Install ridge vents by pulling off your ridge cap on the roof and cutting the roof sheathing back by an inch and 1/2 on either side of the ridge. Roll out the ridge vent and recap over vent.

Attic fans and ridge vents are generally installed before the roofing. If you are installing after the fact, there will be a need to be a roofer.

For ridge vents,cut the roof on each side of the ridge 1 to 1 1/2 inches. Nail on the ridge vent using nails with rubber washers. 2 fans are adequate.
