You can learn a lot about stage presence from watching Idol clips. You can also get an impression of what the judges consider a likely candidate, and whether they think a particular type of music is appropriate.
Sure you can. I've noticed that the judges really don't like cheesy or costume-y auditions. Don't use any props either. Just go in there being yourself and let your natural talent shine through.
