How do you choose a good song for an American Idol audition?

I am going to audition and I know how important song choice is.

Make sure the song fits your range, style, and capabilities; you don't want to attempt something too difficult in an effort to stand out! More importantly, pick a song that you enjoy singing and/or performing, because if it looks like you're having fun, chances are other people (including the judges) will too.

Go in with a good atitude too! Remember if you have a bad atitude, it'll rub off on the judges, and they might not like you as much as they would if you had a better atitude. Pick a good song that you are really good at. add a comment

Dont dress in anything too flashy too, you want to keep the judges focused on your voice, not your outfit! add a comment

You should choose a song that showcases your voice well, is not too difficult or has parts you must strain to sing. Try to avoid common songs everyone else sings

When picking a song to perform you should pick something you feel comfortable performing without any music and that your voice can support.

Good idea would be to choose something that can show off your range and be a unique song so it's not compared against an ideal.
