Yes they can. Keep a close eye on mum after labour in case she shows signs, and take her to a qualified EXOTICS vet if she does.

Yes. Guinea pigs can develop this when pregnant. Seek care from a vet who specializes in exotic and small animals.

It is possible for guinea pigs to get toxemia. Stillbirths and abortions can often result from toxemia illness. This can be caused when your pig is not fed correctly late in her pregnancy.

Pregnant guinea pigs are susceptible to toxemia, and can lead to stillbirths. Toxemia is usually caused by inadequate feeding. Mastitis and genetics can also lead to toxemia. Guinea pigs can die from toxemia in less than 5 days without treatment.

Yes, they can. Keep an eye on them during pregnancy and around birth and call an EXOTICS vet if there are any problems (prolonged labour, excessive bleeding, etc). Please do not breed intentionally - there is a 20% death rate in all cavy pregnancies - so adopt instead.

Toxemia is common in guinea pigs if they are given unsafe antibiotics such as penicillin (the only really safe ones are bactrim, baytril and doxycycline) or as a complication from pregnancy (espeically if overbred or in older sows). If you suspect ANY illnes, find a cavy savvy EXOTICS vet ASAP.

Yes they can - there are many risks during pregnancy and toxemia is one of them. It is best to avoid pregnancy as there is always a 20% chance of fatality for mum. If you suspect toxemia, get the pig to an emergency clinic to see a trained exotics vet immediately.
