Generally speaking, a felony conviction does not prohibit a person from travelling. There can be exceptions, however. If the person is still on probation or parole, they may need to get permission for travel. Also, if they have been convicted of anything terrorism-related, they might prohibited from travel on airlines.

There are very few restrictions on the rights of convicted felons once they have completed the terms of their sentencing. Travel on trains and planes is not a prohibited activity.

Felons on probation or parole need to ask for permission to leave their state. If the felon is heading for another country be aware that many countries will not allow felons to enter without prior authorization. If these factors don't apply a felon can travel within the U. S.

The only restrictions a felon would have traveling around America on a train, or by plain would be if he/she is still on parole. Permission would then be needed.
