Both my electric weed trimmers turn on but the spool does not spin on either. What is the best approach to repair them?

For an electric weed eater, first take off the spool and head. Inspect both for wear and damage. Inspect the cable end that goes in the head. With the head, off start the trimmer. If the cable still doesn't spin, you should stop and take it to a quilified technicion.

Try turning the spool by hand. If the trimmer has been sitting a long time without use, the gear in the knuckle can get stuck.
