Many times in the history of man, a person or race of people have predicted the end of the world. We are still here, in spite of their best guesses or hopes. No matter what the Mayans or anyone else says I would bet that you will wake up on December 22, 2012 and still have to go to work.

The Mayan calendar supposedly ends in 2012. But really, what it does is reset or start over (just like our calendar starts over after Dec. 31st). In other words, some people will die in 2012, of course, but people die every year. However, the world is very unlikely to end in 2012.

No one can prove it so I guess we will see when we get there. All this hype started because of the new Hollywood Film titled "2012. " The Ancient Mayans say that the world is going to end in 2012 because that is the end of the Mayan calender and when they determined the world will end.

In 2012 the Mayan Long Count calendar ends. Somehow this has become a beacon for many end-of-the-world prophecies. There are many, many books (and now a movie) about this. There is zero scientific proof the end of the world will occur in 2012. My guess is that no more people will die than usually do in a particular year.
