Letters that are addressed directly to the court may not be proper in that it is considered ex-parte communication which means contact without the other party being allowed to participate.

You are unclear. If you need to write a letter to the Judge be clear, concise and state all your facts in an easily read manner. Make sure you know what you are talking about. Make sure it is appropriate to approach the Judge. You really are meant to go through the procedure of the Court. Above all, be respectful.
