Would you buy a used 6hp Johnson?

This would be a great motor to tink around with if you want to become familiar with small engines. Boat motors offer easy access to most of the engine parts, and should be easy to fix up. If you want to use it right away, see if it runs first.

Yes, I would buy 6hp Johnson, if it is available at a cheaper rate. I would like to have it with the charging system. This motor condition should be apt for sail and fish boat. Above all it should be in a very clean condition. It should be a mount to fit on boat. Thanks

Only if you are familiar with the seller. If not, you should perform a visual inspection looking for leaks or signs of misuse; check fluid level and condition. Best of all, operate the engine in the water, either mounted on a boat or in a suitable water-filled container.

Johnson made a six horsepower motor. They were two stroke and would run forever as long as you used the proper mixture of oil to the gas. They were usually started with a pull rope. Very simple operation. If I had a need for one I would certainly buy it if the price was right.
