Yes getting too much sun can cause your lips to get dry, crack, get cold sores, and even blisters on them.

It sure can. You might want to see your doctor about this. It does sound like you may have a form of herpes. Herpes is a virus that attaches itself to the nerve endings and in your case to much sun may trigger the virus to come out.

Exposure to the sun will contribute to fever blisters or cold sores. Prevent exposure by using a high SPF lip balm every day and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. Wear a hat and/or stay in the shade if possible. You should use sun screen on your face everyday, be sure to protect your lips.

No. Cold sores / fever blisters are caused by the herpes simplex virus which is constantly present within your body and can flare up at any time, causing new sores. However, expose to the sun can make sores worse, so use a lipbalm with a sun protection factor when outside to prevent sores from becoming more painful and irritated.
