Will English Ivy harm shrubs?

I love English Ivy but was afraid it would harm my shrubs.

You may be right, it would depend on the shrub. More importantly though, English Ivy tends to a menace; it will take over your lawn, trees, and even your house. And once it's established, getting it out is impossible.

The only way it will harm your shrubs is if you dont have good healthy shrubs otherwise it will just grow up and crawl in and around them and all will be well. For details do a web search and it will pull a ton of information.

English Ivy sometimes becomes harmful for shrubs If the shrubs are not in good qualities. It will be a good idea if it is planted on a trellis.

The roots of an English Ivy pose no threat to a closely planted shrub however if you do not train your Ivy to grow up something (like a trellis)

The Ivy itself will nor harm your shrubs but it could cause a problem. If the ivy overcrowds your shrubs they may die from lack of light.
