No, if you're cutting things on said cutting board, it should be just fine. If not keep it sharper longer than a normal wooden or plastic cutting board. Bamboo tends to be a softer wood anyways.

Wood cutting boards are better for knives than other material. The problem with wood is that if you don't take care of it, it dries out and cracks, trapping food and bacteria in the surface, increasing your risk of food borne illness. As long as you take good care of your board, and your knives, you shouldn't see a difference.

....right so use mineral oil (you local pharmacy) or food grade tung oil (idea behalandana?) to seal-up your woden cutting board and give it that beautiful patina that a used cutting board gets _not_ olive oil or vegetable oil which go rancid.  add a comment

Yes, as the bamboo cutting board contains a bit more of glues and a bit of resins to piece the bamboo together to create the cutting board. But, in consideration, the bamboo cutting board is more eco friendly than the others out there.

I have been switching over to bamboo cutting boards ever since I bought my first one a year ago. Not only was it "nice" to my knives, I found bamboo is very durable. It seams to have all the qualities of wood and it does not have any of the drawbacks wood, plastic or anything else I've tried.

Yes. Bamboo is a really had surface and will dull your knives. You can buy a sharpener, though. Bamboo is more ecologically sound than other options, though.

Each and every surface that you cut on is going to dull your knife. Glass is the worst, as it's really hard, next to counter tops(which also chip). Bamboo is actually a good thing to use, as is any type of wood. While they damage more easily, they are much easier on the knife!

Wood or bamboo cutting boards will not necessarily dull a knife faster, than say, a plastic cutting board. In fact, natural or organic cutting boards are better.

No- All wood cutting boards contain glues and/or resins. No matter what cutting surface you have, using your wonderful knives will eventually dull them. If you hone them regularly it will be a long time before you have to sharpen them.
