Why would you take cholestyramine powder for slow, transient constipation?

Cholestyramine powder is not used for the treatment of constipation. Constipation is actually one of the most common side effect of cholestyramine powder. Cholestyramine powder is also sometimes used to treat diarrhea in patients with Crohn's disease because of the effects on the bowels. The main use for cholestyramine powder is to lower cholesterol.

Cholestyramine powder which is Questran, is a medicine that regulates your bowel movements and will also lower your cholesteral. It makes more water go to your bowel so that it will be softer.
