The reason for buying a jumbo remote might not necessarily be poor sight. Impaired motor control due to advanced age or a nervous system condition might require the user to have bigger buttons.
They would buy it for the sheer novelty of it. Imagine having your friends over to watch t.v. and you say pass me the remote but the remote is gigantic.
