Why will my airbag light not go off, I recently got a new stereo installed?

Clearly whoever installed your new stereo nicked one of the wires for your airbag. This is quite dangerous. If that nicked wire grounded out it could set your airbag off at any time. It could also cause the airbag not to go off in an accident. Have it checked!!

The wiring for the airbag light is very likely not making a full connection any more. Check the wiring, which may be located under a seat or in the steering column, and even around the stereo.

Check for the wiring all over again it seems to me that the mechanic must have done a mistake in the wiring while installing your new stereo, also check your battery.

the stereo may not be wired to the right power source. it may be wired to the same power source that the air bag system is wired.
