When water coming out of a faucet looks discolored, it is usually a rust problem. Rust in the pipes is the culprit. Old pipes begin corroding and rust develops. When the rust begins breaking loose, it moves through the pipes and eventually comes out the spigots or faucets. Also, the water source itself may be tainted with rust.

The water coming out of the faucet appears yellow as there is a tiny amount of rust in your pipes. Rust is generally orange in color, but when it is watered down it may appear yellow. This happens mostly in older houses that have metal pipes that are starting to rust.

I would say that the yellow in the water is from to much iron in your water lines. If you have a water softener it may be out of salt and that also may be causing the yellow in your faucets. If you do not have a water softener it may be a good idea to invest in one.

It is probably yellow in color due to rust in your pipes. which probably means you have an older house with steel pipes. call plumber and switch to copper tubing.
