Question by  dseawood (2)

Why is the line "x=4" a vertical line?

+5

Answer by  technogeek (6640)

Because, no matter what y is equaled to, along the x axis, if x is equal to 4 each time, the line will extend vertically on into infinity. Graph it and you will see.

An equation that only has one variable only crosses the axis that is referred to in the equation. This line can only cross the x axis, and so its vertical.
