There are many reasons a cat may exhibit this symptom. The most common cause is an eye infection, which can be caused by debris or injury to the eye. Another possibility is an Upper Respiratory Infection, which causes eye congestion. Felines also sometimes carry a form of the herpes virus.

Irritation causes a cat to close its eye. There may be a foreign object in the eye, such as a tiny bit of fur or dust. If there are other animals in the house, the cat could also have a scratch on its eye. If it persists, you should see a vet.

I think its just a habit they sometime have and it is nothing, will follow up with a vet check up it he doesnt stop.
