Why is one of my big toes numb, I just had surgery to remove a knuckle from the 4th toe?

I had a knuckle removed from my 4th toe one month ago.

It is possible that during the surgery another toe was affected. Talk with your doctor. It is also possible it is just nerve damage and it may return. It may not be related to your toe surgery at all. Toe numbness can be caused from tight muscles in the leg.

Thank you for answering. I do have an appt. with the doctor in a week. I just didn't know if the nerves would communicate between the 4th toe and the big toe. Nice to hear that the feeling may return!  add a comment

If this is the big toe on that foot,it may be a result of nerves being manipulated during surgery, change in balance, or swelling. Have it checked to be safe.

If you are having numbness of the great toe of the same foot as surgery, one should see your physician. Nerve damage could be possible but see your surgeon.

If you are experiencing numbness in your toe post surgery, it is possible the some nerve damage had occurred during the operative procedure.
