It could be the puppy is nervous, lacks socialization, or it could be a dominance or aggression issue. Whatever the cause, a professional might be able to narrow it down.

Dogs growl when they are uncomfortable, scared, or most often - threatened. Ensure that she feels like she's in a safe environment. If you have kids, make them leave her alone until she approaches them. Talk to your vet to ensure she's not in any pain.

To start with, simply stay with the puppy and talk to her with a reassuring and calm voice. Once the puppy is used to this, then let the adult approach the puppy while she is eating, go on reassuring her with her gentle voice.

Puppies growl for a variety of reasons. They can be upset and angry, or growling can be just a playful communication. The stance of your puppy, as well as the puppies facial expression, usually will help you figure out what he is trying to communicate.

I would guess some reason for growling puppies could be anything from a play growl, angry growl or even a distress growl, indicating pain.See if the situation is the same or does not matter what is going on for puppy to be growling. A certified dog trainer or veterinarian may need t5o be called in to figure this out.

She may very well be playing alot of puppies will do that. If she is starting to growl and then come at you or trying to bite while she is doing it then she is starting to get agressive in nature and you will need to start getting after.
